ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
 FOR SRS

NOTE: Although 'The Samui Clinic' welcomes patients with the under mentioned
 minimum requirements.  We do view and assess all patients on an individual basis. 

The minimum requirement under our own assessment would be a letter supporting surgery by a psychiatrist and a full understanding of the irreversible nature of the surgical procedure being requested.

 

 

 'Harry Benjamin International Gender Dysphoria Association'.
(The following requirements are not law)

1. Live for at least one year full-time in the new gender role Known as (RLT) real life training.
   

2. Engage in hormone therapy for at least one year (this can be simultaneous with the full-time experience).
   

3. Gain recommendation by a psychologist, clinical behaviour scientist or an appropriate therapist after an series of sessions which should last a minimum of six months.
   

4. Gain a recommendation of a psychiatrist that surgery is not contrary to the Mental Health of the patient.  

Note:  It is the responsibility of the patient to see that the
 professional  making the recommendation has the qualification
    as required and that  they are clearly stated in the recommendation.
